A subcategory of the value-weighted method involves adjustment of market cap weights for each issue’s floating supply of shares or free float—the number of shares outstanding that are actually available to investors.
就是说普通的market-value weighted index直接跟踪指数中的weight。
但是free float要求根据指数中的实际权重，进行进一步调整。也就是用指数中的权重乘以一个float factor（在0到1之间）
