A sell-side analyst works for a brokerage or firm that manages individual accounts and makes recommendations to the clients of the firm，因此卖方分析师实在经纪公司或投行任职的，他们管理账户并且为客户做投资推荐。
A buy-side analyst usually works for institutional investors such as hedge funds, pension funds, or mutual funds. These individuals perform research and make recommendations to the money managers of the fund that employs them。买方分析师通常为机构投资者工作（对冲基金、养老金、共同基金等）。他们会为这些机构投资者的资金管理者来做研究并进行推荐。
