代表short seller代付的股利和利息费用。
比如说short seller问security lender借入一只股票卖出做空。
因为股票已经卖出给市场上其他的投资者C，所以如果在做空期间，该股票发股利是发给另外的投资者C的，不会发给short seller或者security lender了。
但是security lender其实是借出股票，也就是说理论上security lender还是拥有了股票的所有权，应该获得这部分股利。所以short seller会自掏腰包把属于security lender的这部分股利还给他，这部分股利就是payment-in-lieu

好的，那做空者借入股票所要支付的利息也包含在payment-in-lieu中吗？

一般不包括，借入支付的利息，属于付给security lender的收益，不算“代缴”所以不属于payment-in-lieu
上面回复中指的利息，是做空债券的时候，债券支付的coupon；类似于做空股票的股利。
