你的理解是对的，depreciation expense included in earnings before tax指的是包含在税前利润（EBT）中的折旧费用，所以这里的9000指的就是折旧费用。
earnings before tax reported on the income statement指的就是利润表中的税前利润（EBT），折旧费用是在税前列支所以计算出的EBT是已经考虑了折旧的。所以5280税前利润是已经扣除了9000的折旧费用计算出的。
